REAVERS! I received boxes of BLACKOUT today which is *3 weeks* before scheduled release date. Please, please WAIT until 3/1 to buy if you can & enter for massive prizes. See: http://tinyurl.com/4h2zkhq  Lists can't be made with releases this early.  I'm doing my best to keep Cal alive. Help me out, guys.

Now I'm off to assume the fetal position and bawl like a fucking baby.
maryvsmith on February 9th, 2011 11:07 pm (UTC)
I have been in all our local big stores, including Barnes and noble, (which usually mades a big thing out of your releases) and no sign of Reavers yet...... I will buy after 3/1, and be telling all of my friends.

I've never really been all that great at giving words of comfort and/or encouragement, it's just not my strong suit, having said that, your Cal books seem to be the most popular and well-known series of books you've written, so even if they were to hit the bookstores early I still think Blackout might Underdog it this year and pull in a win for you.

Roadkill did fairly well last year didn't it?

Good things are worth waiting for, so Lord willing, my fellow Reavers and I will be able to tip the odds in your favor by being patient bloodthirsty zealots and buying stacks and stacks of Blackout between March 1-7. (Come on tax return money, Mama needs to keep her favorite writer in business!)

Optimism, it's hard to keep, and even harder to find in desperate times, but by God, I WILL NOT LET YOU OR CALIBAN DOWN!

Keeping the faith, your fan,

It'll be easy for me to keep the promise not to buy early: other than the book kiosk at the airport on Friday, I'm not going to be anywhere *near a bookstore before the release date. =)
Renee-chan: Dark Visions -- two years for murderrchan on February 10th, 2011 04:23 am (UTC)
I know it's useless to tell you not to fret about it, but at least know that your Reavers have your back. 3/1 is circled on my calendar and I will not go near a copy of Blackout until that day comes.

*mutters* Stupid bookstores.
Wraeththu: Firefly: PRSwellworld on February 10th, 2011 05:44 am (UTC)
Not buying until the first -- and I'll let my local bookstore know that they should wait!

All my friends are I are waiting. Can't wait :)

I would never help Cal die, that would be the worst thing ever.
barbhendee on February 10th, 2011 03:51 pm (UTC)
I know this really concerns you, and I worry about the stress this causes you. Have you talked to your editor about how much this worries and upsets you? Maybe she do something.

I was really stressed about how "book placement" was affecting my Vampire Memories series and I talked to my editor, and we ended making quite a large change in the situation. I would try this.
robgoodfellarobgoodfella on February 10th, 2011 04:22 pm (UTC)
You are so gracious and kind to be concerned and to offer advice. I couldn't see how to directly message you on your LJ however to explain the situation.
barbhendee on February 10th, 2011 04:24 pm (UTC)
Email at barb AT nobledead DOT COM

My editor is Susan Allison. I don't know if I can help, but I'd be glad to try.
deidre_deedeidre_dee on February 10th, 2011 08:54 pm (UTC)
I'm really sorry to hear that!
I would punch someone in the head if I could (No, really, I would. Just let me know if I'm needed -wink,wink)
I guess it doesn't make sense, to me anyway, that they would be released so early if they aren't TECHNICALLY suppose to be out til the 1st?
Either way I'm waiting - I'ma reaver and I'ma not let you down Rob!
Blackout is gunna kick some major ass on the top sellers list! (;

I got your back! Much as I want me some Cal RIGHT NOW! I can wait until March 1. I have plenty to do in RL between then and now.
Kitana Bradfordkitana_bradford on February 10th, 2011 11:23 pm (UTC)
No worries from this region.
Bookstores around here are hyper-aware about releasing books on schedule because they got nailed a few years ago for it.
Apparently it was messy and their tails are still firmly between their legs. They mentioned it when I went to reserve my copy of Blackout.
So you're good here! :)

Plus, those of us in this area are doing their best to keep an eye on things. And, believe me, we are... energetic, to say the least. See what I mean?
kleew on February 11th, 2011 01:08 am (UTC)
First, I swear I am not going to buy Blackout until release day.

I was at 2 bookstores in the last two days (my son was hunting for manga) and I can say it was NOT on the shelves at either store - one was a Borders, the other a Barnes & Noble.

Terion: bobby cannot believe this shit!terioncalling on February 11th, 2011 08:07 pm (UTC)
Shit. And I won't be in town until Tuesday.

I'll keep an eye on my local B&N and BAM. If I spy them shelved before, I'll definitely be popping over to the service desk.
Jenmadd4the24 on February 15th, 2011 06:34 pm (UTC)
I preordered from B&N ages ago, and they shipped the book to me yesterday. This always seems to happen to me with your books when I preorder from B&N. But no worries, because I'll just do what I always do when this happens, and buy a second copy when the books are available in stores. I have it covered.
robgoodfellarobgoodfella on February 15th, 2011 06:44 pm (UTC)
You are a true reaver! Thanks for covering my ass!
Jenmadd4the24 on February 16th, 2011 04:15 am (UTC)
No problem. We all have to do our part to keep Cal and Niko alive for as long as possible.
Nataliegoddessof1985 on February 17th, 2011 11:03 am (UTC)
I'll be getting the Kindle version.. hope that counts! if not, I'll make sure to grab a paperback too
robgoodfellarobgoodfella on February 17th, 2011 02:40 pm (UTC)
That would be really nice of you. You could always give the paperback to a friend and try to hook another fan.
Nataliegoddessof1985 on February 18th, 2011 01:17 pm (UTC)
sounds like a plan :) will do!
Courtneychibi_wildwolf on February 19th, 2011 04:25 am (UTC)
C-Novels has listed the Japanese verison of Deathwish (闇の劫火
) as coming out 3/25/2011. No cover art yet, nor does it actually have a page on the site--it's just on the "Coming Soon" list. Will no doubt be posting when more info comes up, ie: that gorgeous cover art Kazusa does.

Have been told that I will be working a ten-hour work day on March 1st. >_____> Will be forced to Kindle Blackout, start reading when it arrives on device at 2AM, then be a total bitch all work day from having stayed up all night.
The promptly make way to Borders/B&N after work and hurt someone if they don't have it.
robgoodfellarobgoodfella on February 19th, 2011 02:02 pm (UTC)
Bad news....Japan won't be publishing anymore after Deathwish, so no more gorgeous manga art (plus their advances are higher than most other countries.) I was very disappointed. I really connected with Japan in the stories...as all their anime and manga is angst, suffering, humor, half-demon what nots, violence. I thought I was genuinely on the money with them with the Cal series. Sigh. I should be receiving the Deathwish cover soon and I'll post it then.
Courtneychibi_wildwolf on February 19th, 2011 08:20 pm (UTC)
...and now I'm sad. :(
2_thumper on February 23rd, 2011 09:40 pm (UTC)
I love your books, and couldn't stand to see any of them die. ;-; I will see what the book stores around here are doing, and ask them to wait until the first. :)
And when March 1st comes I will go get myself a copy, along with all of my friends a copy. It will all work out for the best.
sleep_is_godsleep_is_god on February 26th, 2011 08:20 pm (UTC)
A lot of chapters in my city apparantly just got copies :/. Keeping my promise but it's soooo tempting since four of those stores are relatively easy to get to...
angelsallfireangelsallfire on February 28th, 2011 03:30 pm (UTC)
I haven't seen them out at the bookstore yet, thank goodness.
ONE MORE DAY! I may wet myself from the anticipation.
ali_u2fanali_u2fan on March 1st, 2011 05:41 pm (UTC)
I got my copy today!
I'm in the UK and ordered 'Blackout' from The Book Depository and it arrived today.I never expected it to arrive so soon and its arrival has really made my day :)

P.S I'm off to Scotland to meet Robert Crais at a book signing on Thursday so with Blackout already in my posession this week is turning out to be very special!

Good luck with the NYT rankings!
robgoodfellarobgoodfella on March 1st, 2011 05:52 pm (UTC)
Re: I got my copy today!
Hey! I'm a huge Crais, Elvis, and Pike fan. Give him a copy of Chimera (Cal's probably not up his alley) but Chimera has the Russian mob, male bonding, and enough ass kicking to make Pike actually take off his sunglasses and give a thumbs up.
